We recently spent several days in Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio. Hocking Hills is a maze of hiking trails that run through gorges, past dozens of waterfalls, and through magnificent caves. We spent three days hiking, took about 1000 photos and barely scratched the surface of all natural beauty that is to be found there. Several posts will follow with some of the highlights of the of our time in the park.
We rented a cabin for our stay--it was complete with locally made log furniture, a full kitchen, and a hot tub. For photos of the interior click over to Dandelion Haven's facebook page.
Then a little preview of photos to come...
The lower falls in Old Man's Cave's Gorge.
A glimpse of the stream below Cedar Falls.
Colorful rock formations at Rock House.
Kateri,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place. The falls full of icicles are an incredible sight and what a pretty cabin. I am looking forward to your next post.
Beautiful! I looks like a perfect place to relax.
ReplyDeleteThat cabin is so gorgeous - just like the scenery. Lovely pics.
ReplyDeletewe live in Ohio, and have never been. Something we should like to do...once we actually find a job again...sure looks nice...looking forward to more pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heidi, when we got there it was 40 degrees and raining. I was so hoping for a freeze overnight so we would have icicles--and we got the freeze and a light dusting of snow. Lots of icicles in upcoming posts!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, definitely a great place to relax. The hot tub got plenty of use in the evenings after being out hiking all day.
Ladyfi, it was a pretty cabin, both inside and out and well worth the extra cost (a smaller one without a full kitchen would have been cheaper, but we decided to go with one that had all the comforts of home.)
Faith, how close to you live to the park? Other than the cost of the cabin and bying a $2 map, once we got there, we didn't spend any money. The parks are free to get into and if you are close enough to make a day trip of it, would be a great way to do something special that is low cost. Hope you get a chance to go!
This looks like a beautiful place...love the cabin!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really neat place. My friend Carol, from Kentucky has posted shot from there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat little cabin! Didn't you want to take it home?
ooooh!! LoVE it!! the icicles! the partly frozen waterfall!! the Rock House!!
ReplyDeleteand the BIG cabin. hot tubs are the BEST in the freezing weather, eh??
looks like a wonderful trip...can't wait to see MORE!!
Beautiful pictures! I LOVE hiking through and exploring places like that! Looking forward to seeing more! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kateri, I have never been to Ohio but will likely go there. My late mother's grandfather was born in eastern Ohio near PA so I will be motivated to find an adventure there. That park looks wonderful. I like your pictures a lot! Have a super nice coming week!
ReplyDeleteWow, what beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteSandy and Alicia, Yes, I definitely wanted to take the cabin home. :) It turned out to be bigger then we though it would be. My husband and I both agreed it would make a perfect little retirement home for two people...
ReplyDeleteThe really neat thing about this area of Ohio is that there is so much beauty concentrated in about 30 square miles. We only got to a few of the places that can be seen...and even at that I was feeling a little overwhelmed with all that beauty!
Wow. What an interesting place. I love of Your photos and cannot name my favorite photo. I am very glad that You presented these and we have possibility to admire them. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks very beautiful...and cold.
ReplyDeleteWhat alovely place ,I also would love a cabin in the woods.
