At least 95% of the photos I took of him look something like this one.
When he was asleep he was completely adorable and oh, so snuggly.
He quickly made friends with the big stray, Mittens. (Mittens by the way, has not been seen lately, not sure what has happened to him.)
And he tried to make friends with Nemo, who would have nothing to do with friendship. (Nemo is most definitely a loner.) Here he is begging to be played with. In spite of Blackberry's best efforts, Nemo can't be persuaded.
When he was a lonely little kitty, newly separated from his mother and brothers and sisters, he looked for playmates in the chicken. Even when he was a tiny wobbly kitten they were afraid of him.
He quickly learned that it was fun to chase and harass the hens and spent hours chasing them. Sometimes he would manage to catch one and pin it to ground.
He was a master at hide and seek, and was talented at getting himself locked up accidentally . We locked in the chicken coop several times, and was locked in my car overnight. Once he was locked in the workshop for two days while we searched high and low for him.
Blackberry on the day we brought him home. He got his name from his sharp little claws. He was sweet and snuggly, but definitely prickly, too.
How sadly that Blackberry died.
ReplyDeleteYou have so nice photos from it that You'll Blackberry will stay long time in Your hearts.
Anyway life must go.
I wish a very happy weekend to You all.
My heart goes out to you Kateri, I know how much our pets are a part of the family, and how deep the loss is once they're gone. It was wonderful that he got to share his life with you.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry!
ReplyDeletethe daffodils in your header are a lovely memorial to a cute kitty
That's sad, but at least the time he had with you was a good time for him. Many are not that fortunate!

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at your Inca photos very much.
It saddens me to hear about your kitty Blackberry's passing.
ReplyDeleteMy kitty Chuck was 22-years-old when he died, he was the cat that converted my husband.
They become such a part of your family. My thoughts are with you.

we are all sad about Blackberry, too :-( I hope that one day another little kitty will find his way into my dad's heart the way this one did!
ReplyDeleteYou have captured some good memories with Blackberry! The missing kitty... one of the drawbacks of the farm... dear ones come and go unannounced.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Blackberry. It's always tough. We lost a little kitten once to a respiratory disease, too. I hope another will scratch it's way into your hubby's heart and lives!!
