Gray Dogwood Baskets

This basket is woven from hand spun wool and gray dogwood twigs and has a wild grapevine handle. I boiled the twigs to make them pliable enough for weaving.  Grey dogwood is an invasive shrub that we are working on eliminating from our property.

I made these tiny baskets from the leftover twigs. I'm thinking they might make it on to my nature themed Christmas tree later this month...

  2. They are beautiful! Be sure to let us see the tree when it is fully done.

After looking at your work, i gathered wild cherry twigs to make a couple of stars. Right now, they are propped up in my kitchen window. Thanks for the idea.

  3. Thanks, Jess!

Sandy, I'm glad you were able to make some of the stars. I've really enjoyed having had a bit of down time between jobs to do a few crafts. I start a new job on Monday, but am making it one of my goals to work on a craft project two or three a week this winter.

  4. I love your baskets! They would be perfect for decorating, and it's so nice you could make something beautiful from an invasive shrub.

  5. Teresa, thank you. I'm delighted to have found a use for the gray dogwood. Now if only I can figure out how to make autumn olive twigs pliable enough to weave with...

  8. oh these are just stunners....and perfect on that beautiful conifer, your pictures are gorgeous..so pristine and clear..untouchted. Thank you for stopping at my little place. You are a wonder with the camera....you captured the moment perfectly. Thank you for sharing. Crafting is good..I like to make things and try to do something every day, even if it is just a row or two..keeps me balanced and removes stress from the outside world.

  9. Love the little baskets, it is harder to make the small ones than the larger ones!

Good luck with your new job.
